In May I had my first endoscopy to fix my stricture - the "pipe" just passed the stoma was down to 2mm. Four weeks later I was back for another endoscopy as I was having trouble keeping solid food down.
Today was my birthday and my family wanted to take me out for dinner. It was at a nice English pub style restaurant downtown that has long been a favourite. I treated myself to a light beer and a quiche.
One day after an endoscopy I don't think I was healed enough. I did not have more than two ounces of beer and none of the food. (I have it in the fridge for future reference.) It appears that I need to stick with gentler food and drink for now. (I am wondering if the little bit of food I had earlier in the day is "stuck". That is what it feels like.)
I an just sitting and taking it easy - hoping this evening's baseball game will provide enough of a distraction from the discomfort. I think a chat with the dietitian at Barix is in order. This isn't fun anymore. My "pipe dream" is to have a "pipe" that allows me to swallow real food!
I am sure this will get better. I just need to work through it. In the meantime I am staying close to the "porcelain phone"- just in case I need to make a "call"...
